My work comes out of my lived experience of being a multi-generational caregiver of 30+ years. These experiences range from single motherhood to elder care involving my mother's life-long mental illness and my father's dementia. I have experienced these labors that are often culturally invisible and undervalued while at the same time universal. Addressing this labor and the difficulties we can have processing care work is a very important topic today as we must turn back to our close community and family for help. My practice is aligned with my life as a way to delve into the intricacies of care within relationships with a specific focus on barriers and how we bridge them. I typically work metaphorically with artworks that span between public art, social practice, and intimate exploration of the object.
