“I spent many years drawing with pencil and charcoal in black and white in my early years. The in college I took my first color theory class. It changed the way I looked at everything around me and how much color and value can evoke different feelings and emotions. Creating art for me is about trust and accepting where I am in the moment. This process of learning art principles that relate to me has been a beautiful and liberating experience.
Each painting is a safe place where I can express my inner connection to all of my life experiences as I move through different phases of life. Painting is a way for me to find my voice and each one represents a time and place that has moved me to the next. I am learning to truly let go and listen; a practice that has provided me guidance and acceptance in art and life.” - Cathy Camacho
